Working for a person that does not pay zakaat
Q: Is it permissible to work for a person that does not pay zakaat?
Q: Is it permissible to work for a person that does not pay zakaat?
Q: Is it permissible to sell stuff (favour boxes, name tags, cake toppers, place cards, etc.) that doesn't contain any pictures of any human/animal for bridal showers, baby showers and birthday events?
Q: I have a question regarding one domain of modern day freelance work. People contact me through the freelancing website (where I have my profile made that mentions the subjects that I'm expert in) and ask me to do their class assignments and projects. Sometimes, they also require help on their tests and exams both online and inside the class. We decide a price with mutual consent and I get paid once the work is delivered.
Now I have a couple of questions:
1- Is this mode of earning permissible?
2- If not, then what about all the money that I have earned and spent on myself and my family till this time and this amount will turn out to be not so little as I've been working in this mode for last 2 years.
3- What about the profits and investments in the property and other traditional businesses that I have done using this money that I have earned from the above mentioned work mode?
4- What about the savings that I have in hand for the time being?
Q: I live in canada and have studied to become a police officer. Praise be to Allah he has guided me to be closer to him. Originally I didn’t think there was anything wrong with being a police officer. However recently I have read some websites that have declared it an act of kufr and shirk. Now my life has come to a halt because I’m unsure of what to do.
The reasons they gave for it being an act of kufr or shirk are:
1) I am enforcing man made laws
2) I have to take an oath
3) there is a tiny cross on top of a crown on the police arm patches ( could I just cover the cross)?
4) I may have to arrest muslims who break the law and the courts here are non Islamic as well as the jails.
5) domestic abuse is a big problem here, I may get called and if one of the spouses feels threatened or does not want the other to be around or they look physically abused, then I will have to arrest the perpetrator for the safety of the other until something is figured out between them personally or in court.
6) I would be assisting in sin because laws here permit things like drinking, however public intoxication isn’t permitted and I could ticket them if I chose to or if it’s really bad, I could arrest them. but, logically I wouldn’t be able to ticket everyone, if anyone at all, unless they are causing problems.
For your reference these are the oaths, I would have to take:
I solemnly swear (affirm) that I will be loyal to Her Majesty the Queen and to Canada, and that I will uphold the Constitution of Canada and that I will, to the best of my ability, preserve the peace, prevent offences and discharge my other duties as (insert name of office) faithfully, impartially and according to law. So help me God. (Omit this line in an affirmation.) or I solemnly swear (affirm) that I will be loyal to Canada, and that I will uphold the Constitution of Canada and that I will, to the best of my ability, preserve the peace, prevent offences and discharge my other duties as (insert name of office) faithfully, impartially and according to law. Q: We are in a partnership with two non-Muslim parties. Our shares in the partnership are 30%, 40% and 30%. Initially, the profit was to be divided as per this ratio when the job was completed. It has now emerged that doing the actual work will require additional time and management. This can either be sourced from an outside consultant or can be carried out by one of the shareholding parties. The other two parties are happy to appoint the third party to do the work for an extra fee. Islamically, is this agreement permissible?
Q: I work in a jewellery store in which we sell watches, earrings, different chains, etc. Some of the chains that we sell contain Christian connotations e.g. the Christian cross, the face of Jesus, etc. I personally don’t like to sell these items and I don’t own the store. What should I do?
Q: I breed and sell cats as a business. Is this a permissible form of income?
Q: There are some short link websites which pay us. On one website, for example, we can short link any video, so when we send that short link to someone and he opens it, he will first watch an advertisement then he will be redirected to the real video link. These ads contain pictures. Is this type of earning halaal or haraam?
Q: Does a mother-in-law have a right over the son’s jewellery given to him from his wife’s parents on their marriage?
And does a wife have any rights over her husbands jewellery that her parents had only given? The mother-in-law has a lot of gold but also takes her daughter-in-laws gifts? Is it Islamically correct?
Q: I have got a mobile for myself and my wife on credit. Unfortunately I didnt do timely payments and also paid some interest on it. I know its a major sin but I just wanted to ask that the usage of the mobiles which I bought for myself and my wife is haram or halal?
