Q: I would like to know what is the Sunnah regarding when the Adhan is being performed. At our Ibadaat Khanna a few of our Muslim brothers in Islam, are talking or having a conversation one of them is busy scrolling on his cell phone. Q: Regarding birthdays in Islam. Many people say "special duaas for so and so person because it is his birthday today" without saying 'happy birthday' or celebrating in any way. Is this permissible?
So called Islamic schools
Q: Kindly favour me with your reply to the following queries:
- Is it competent and permissible in terms of the Shariah fiqh regime for a disbeliever (kaafir) to be appointed to the position of principal or head of an Islamic institution? Having regard to various verses of the Quran, including but not limited to those in Surah Maaidah,I was always of the view that the Shariah proscribed such an appointment.
- Is it permissible in terms of Shariah for an Islamic institution to observe a period of silence at an assembly of its students as a mark of respect for a disbeliever who recently died?
- Is it permissible in Shariah to for an Islamic school to honour a disbeliever on the occasion of his birthday by singing of 'happy birthday' wishes and greetings at an assembly of the school population?
Foregoing Salaah, Zakaat and Fasting
Q: If someone who doesn't pray salaah or give zakaat or fast, would that person ever enter paradise? If you believe praying salaah is must but you don't pray due to laziness, would that make you a kaafir or committing kufr?
