Q: My question is about the speed of the recitation of the Qur'an during tarawih.
The accent is put on reciting the required amount of verses per night, but it seems nobody cares about tajweed. In fact for some Asian people, the quickest you recite, the more great you are. That makes asians qurra' and 'ulama look terrible in front of arab scholars, who might not recite the whole qur'an but their recitations are alright.
With Ramadhan coming in summer season and with short nights, these recitations will become the norm. And finally there exists this trend of reciting the Qur'an in one night, where tajwid rules are literally butchered, some 'ulama say it is haram to do so, what do you say on this?
Q: If we are short in time when praying salat, instead of reading the whole "Allahumma salli `ala muhammadin wa.." in Durood, can we suffice with just "Salla allahu alayhi wa sallam", will the sunna be fulfilled by this? Also, is it ok to just mention the Prophet as a pronoun or should he be mentioned by name i.e. "Salla allahu ala Muhammedin wa sallam"?
