Using water from a water pipe that was connected illegally

Q: Is water from a water pipe which was connected unauthorisedly with the Govt. water supply scheme for distribution to the authorised consumers but not commissioned till this day, permissible for drinking, ablutions, washing, etc. in view of Islamic rules. The Authority knows and sees but did not taken any legal action against them or regularize the connections.

Getting an item invoiced at a lower price when purchasing from a foreign country to pay less tax

Q: Many people do business and import items from foreign countries. Due to our country charging tax on the items imported, many people get the item invoiced at a lower price in the foreign country so that less tax is paid. I would like to inquire regarding the permissibility and rulings regarding this.

Father gifting business to his sons during his lifetime

Q: My father wants to declare share of property to his children. We are four siblings, two brothers and two sisters.

According to my father, its 25 percent share for the daughter but according to me its 33 percent.

Now what is concerning him is that we have a big running business and also another small factory (Alhamdulillah) which he started for me and my brother in 2010.

My elder brother is working and supporting him since 2010 and I have joined it in 2016 and now its 2020.

My father thinks that since we have workes and contributed to his running business, we both brothers deserve this business as our part of hard work.

From the rest of the property which my father bought and inherited from his father, it should be equally distributed among the four of us.

Is my father correct if he wants to reward me and my brother for our contribution and for the business which he thinks he started for us?

Renting a property to people whose dealings are doubtful

Q: My father in law owns a building, all the portions being given on rent. Though the land belongs to my husband but he is not given any amount nor has he ever demanded as he is having a good job and my father in law's only source of income is the rent from the building.

The rented places are.... A bank, an MRI CT scan service, a gym, a gents salon, a female beauty parlor, a tobacco shop, and an estate agency.

1. I want to know if the income in the form of renting to these places is permissible?

2. When we stay at our in laws, can we eat the food bought with the same money?

3. If one qurbaani share in a cow is purchased with the abovementioned income, will it have an effect on the other shares of qurbaani?

Donating the proportionate amount that was received from haraam income

Q: I had a job in a large clothing store. My job was a mixture of cleaning floors, folding and hanging clothes, moving boxes around containing clothes, working on the cash registers and so on.

The problem is that a few of the items contained haram imagery, like cartoons, which were somewhat like Greek mythology and such very haraam stuff, nike is a famous similar example. And part of the job required me to work with these items here and there. I tried to avoid them as much as possible, I wanted to quit but I had a lot of difficulty finding a job as I'm a student.

Also I didn't know for a long time if this company was going to be selling these kinds of items. So I have repented and I think I should donate the money I earned from the haraam items which was very little to begin with as most sales were from plain products.

Also, due to covid-19, I lost that job and because I was paying taxes, I now receive government assistance, which I'm depending on to get me through possibly more than an entire year and even more perhaps as I am a poor student. I have some savings from the job and mostly from government assistance. Total sales from these haraam items were probably much less than 2% or even 1% and even much less were actually paid to me. But should I donate from my job savings only or from job savings and also the government assistance? How much should I donate and where should I give my donation?

Buying shares in a company where 5% or less of the company investment is in haraam activities

Q: In order to buy stock shares, I have seen a ruling that says that only 5% or less of a company investment should be in haraam activities like alcohol, interest, etc. How can we say that when Allah has asked us to completely stay away from them? Will investing in Islamic banks be halaal if they follow these guidelines?

Developing a social media app where people will post pictures

Q: I am a medical student who is also interested in web development, therefore I was thinking of developing a social media app similar to Facebook where people would be able to post photos. What I am concerned about is if people start to post immoral/obscene photos about which I am pretty sure they will on the website. Will I be sinning since I am providing a platform for such content??

Investing in an electrical store

Q: I am from a Muslim country. I am planning to invest in a business with a friend in which the friend of my father repairs electronic equipment like fans, washing machines, ovens, irons, etc. and also installs electricity in newly built houses and sells electric items.

My question is that is this type of business halal as we provide our service and the user of all these things will use them for some haraam things like they will watch movies, listen to music and this kind of stuff. In general, is an electric store business permissible?
