Q: I had taken out a life insurance policy with a dread disease cover many years ago. (I call that my pre-hidayat days). I have now been paid out part of the money for a dread disease, which is part of the life cover. Can I calculate all the premiums I paid over the years and take the money out of the payout as halaal money for myself? Can I use the balance of the payout for Income Tax payment. I would then cancel the policy. 

Also, what are the zakaat implications regarding this money if it is halaal. Do I need to calculate zakaat from the time I started paying the premiums or not?

Q: Are you allowed to work in a zoo or as a vetinary nurse in a vet?

Q: If an ustaaz comes every day with a few minutes of delay to Madrasah but he usually makes up for his hours by staying after the exit time. Is it allowed or not? Can we blame him for his delays?

1. I work as a Technical Support on a transport concern. The work will be when the need arises and I fix them. There is some leisure time also. Can I read Quraan in that time?

2. I used to see some personal mails, social networking apps during this time, is it allowed to do that?

Q: Four men (A, B, C & D) started a joint halaal business by investing Rs.50,000 each. The business could not be established well and after a year, two of the men (A & B) decides to leave the business as they don't find it profitable.

At this point, how will the shares be given back to A & B, who have decided to discontinue out of their own free will?

Q: I have received a job offer from an insurance company. The job is a customer service advisor, the job consists of taking calls, dealing and helping with customer queries. My question is, is it permissible to work for a motor insurance company?

Q: Is it permissible to play the lotto in order to use the prize money as a loan to start a business? Once a profit is made, money equalling the lotto amount will be given away in charity.

1. Often, when tenants vacate the premises, they leave items behind. Is the landlord entitled to sell these items and keep the money?

2. In the event of a tenant absconding while owing the landlord rentals and other ancillary charges, can the landlord sell these items to recover his money? Is it necessary for him to inform the tenant?
