Salaah

Making Jamaat on an aeroplane

Q: A person is on a plane with his wife, and the time for salaah sets in. There are no other Muslims visible that would be able to perform salaah with the man in jamaat. In this case 1) Would it be better that the husband and wife perform salaah with jamaat or better individually? 2) If there is minimal space and the wife would have to stand almost next to the husband in salaah with jamaat, perhaps on the left hand side, would it be permissible to perform the congregational salaah in this manner?

Performing a second jamaat in the Musjid

Q:

1. Is it true that it is Makruh according to the Hanafi Madhab to perform a second Jum'ah Jamat in a Masjid where the main Jamat has already taken place? The reason given for having a second Jum'ah Jamat is so as to make it easy for those that are doctors or teachers in a school and may find it difficult to get time off. The counter argument to this is that one must fit round the Fardh Salah time and not the other way round?

2. Is it Makruh in the Hanafi Madhab to perform a second Fardh Salah Jamat in a Masjid where the main Jamat has already taken place?

3. What is the position regarding having two or three Eid Jamats in one Masjid due to lack of space? The Salafis in our area manage to perform Salah in a field but we as Hanafis don't. In some cases the reason for not performing outdoors is because of inclement weather. Is this a valid reason to perform Salah in the Masjid?

Performing Salaah on a musalla which was purchased with haraam money or through an invalid transaction

Q:

1. A musalla is purchased with haraam money. Is any Salaah performed on this musalla valid?

2. A musalla is purchased with halaal money, but the transaction was invalid and the seller still remains the Shari' owner. Is any Salaah performed on
this musalla valid?

3. A musalla is purchased by a person with a largely doubtful income. Is Salaah valid on this persons musalla?

A musalla is purchased by a person with a largely doubtful income. He gives this musalla to Zaid as a gift. Zaid knows the largely doubtful nature of
this persons income.

4. Should Zaid perform Salaah on this musalla?

5. Is the Salaah of Zaid valid on this musalla?

6. Is the Salaah of anyone valid on this musalla?

A Muslim woman gives a musalla as a gift to a Ghair Mahram Muslim man. They have a haraam business relationship and are very friendly with each other. This Ghair Mahram Muslim man then keeps this musalla at home which is used by his wife and children on a daily basis. They have been using this musalla for about two years now.

7. Is it correct to perform Salaah, or do any Ibaadah, on this musalla?

8. Are all the Salaah (approx. 2 years) and Ibaadah performed on this musallah by the Ghair Mahram Muslim man and others, primarily his family,
valid?

9. If not, is qadha necessary for these salaah?

10. Is Sajda-Sahw valid on this musalla?

11. If it is necessary to do anything with this musalla, like return it to the woman or give it in charity without the intention of reward, please
advise accordingly.

Salaatut taubah

Q: Are there any particular Surahs or zikr/tasbeeh to be recited during istighfar Salaah? Because in one book I read it says that one should perform istighfar salah two rakaats by reciting Surah qadr after Surah Fatiha and recite Astaghfirullah 140 time in total. Is this true? Is this the way it should be performed? Please clarify and guide me.

Travelling without a mahram

Q: I am an unmarried working woman and my questions are:

1. Can I travel with a non mehram senior colleague through plane from Lahore to Karachi?

2. Can I stay in Karachi for a week with that senior colleague in separate rooms?

3. Can I go to visit Karachi beach with 3 male colleagues after office?

Please guide me in both the cases if I have option to avoid this situation and if I dont have an option to avoid. I shall be thankful to you for your timely guidance.

Moving back in Salaah

Q: Two people are praying, with the muqtadi praying to the right of the imam. A third person then joins and pulls the muqtadi back to stand with him in a row behind the imam. When the muqtadi is pulled back, he ends up taking more than three steps due to the surprise factor (he takes about four small steps). Will this break his salaah?
