Q: Few months back I had got services of carpenter for my home new kitchen. I said to him please make the kitchen with well finishing and I asked him the rate he wants. When kitchen was finalized it was not well furnished and had many technical issues and when I said to him it is not up to the mark and then he without informing me left the house. I had already gave him maximum amount and only PKR. 10,000 was left with me. Now after few months, he is approaching other person who talked with me for giving him 10,000 left amount. My question is: What Islam guides us in this matter. May I give him rest of amount as my kitchen work he didn't do what he said? Please help me and guide me.

Q: I am working in a company as an engineer and as per my designation car is allowed for my traveling but my company does not have a car infact they pay me money to hire a rent car for my visit. My question is that if I don't use a rent car and claim rent car bill, will it be halaal or haram. For example, I have to travel from city A to B. I travel it through train which is cheaper but to the company I claim rent for car because as per my designation car is allowed to me for my ease. But I want to save some money so I rather use some cheap transport method and claim rent for car. Kindly also note the this is the environment of my company. All my colleagues do this and if I don't do this, they will whisper against me to the higher management and I have a chance to lose job. Even if I travel by train or some other transport and want to tell this to my company then my colleagues will become angry with me and will speak against me. So kindly answer me keeping in mind my both scenarios. One is that as per my designation, car is allowed to me for my ease and second, the environment of my office.

Q: I am a software developer. My company gave me a task that I have to make an application where I will check that a person is eligible for bank loan or not. In the whole developing process, there is no any entry of interest. My task is only to check that is person eligible for the loan or not? As we know, bank loan process is interest based that is why I am asking this question. But the application that I will make only tells if that person is eligible or not.

Q: I have a query regarding the payment options of my son’s school fees. Please advise whether the following option is permissible:

Pay in full by the first Friday of February and receive a 5% discount. This amounts to R12 350 for the year instead of R13 000 if I have to split the fee over each school term or per month. The various payment plans are as follows:

1. As detailed above with 5% discount = R12 350 per annum

2. An amount of R3250 per school term = R13 000 per annum

3. An amount of R1300 per month for 10 months (Jan-Oct) = R13 000 per annum

Q: I work in an IT company where they monitor and maintain the server of a website. That is we take care of all their backend and frontend problems and manage them according to the client requirements. Now the company has many websites which is haram like games of rummy played for real money and haram entertainment websites. The company also has good educational website. Is it permissible for me to work in this company and is it my earning halaal where I have to monitor and manage all these websites and make the website run smoothly irrespective of being halaal and haraam?

Q: First Part: Flat In year 2013 ago Mr. Ahmed Khan booked a flat in Regent Plaza by paying the amount of 23 lac rupees to two estate agents (Mr. Aslam & Mr Waqar). Both of them ran away by handing the possession of the property to their third partner (Mr. Kamran). Mr. Ahmed Khan went to court and as a result of compromise with third partner (Mr. Kamran), Mr.Kamran paid 22 lac rupees of the flat to Mr. Ahmed Khan in 2016 when that flat was worth almost 50 lac rupees. Second Part: Shop After the compromise, as Mr. Ahmed Khan had suffered loss of 28 lac rupees and mental torture, He therefore prepared fake documents of a shop in the same building ( Regent Plaza) so that he can recover amount from all three estate agents who are business partners. [Two of them, Mr. Aslam and Mr. Waqar are still run away but are in contact with Mr. Kamran.] Mr. Ahmed Khan sold those documents to Mr. Wali khan who is influential person, who guaranteed that he will try to get recover amount from Mr. Aslam , Mr. Waqar and Mr. Kamran. Mr. Ahmed Khan was asked to give cash amount of 2 lac rupees by Mr. Wali khan so that he can use contacts and intelligence agencies for the work. Mr. Ahmed khan paid 2 lac cash to Mr. Wali Khan and Mr. Wali Khan issued the cheque of 20 lac rupees to Mr. Ahmed that work is guaranteed and he will take possession form 3 estate agents. Mr. Wali now, cannot accomplish task. Is it Halal for Mr. Ahmed Khan to take that amount of 20 lac from Mr. Wali Khan?
