Cash prize draw as an incentive to complete a survey

Q: To encourage consumers to fill out a survey, we offered entry into a cash prize draw as an incentive if you complete the survey. 5 respondents will each win a certain amount of money. After capturing the respondents details, my systems crashed and I lost all the data, I tried everything I could and there is no way of retrieving that data. What do I do ? I have no way of knowing who completed the survey, so how do I choose five winners. Is this form of incentive permissible?

Insuring parcels

Q: In the place where I live, majority of the time when I posted parcels in and around the country without insuring it, the parcel hadn't reached. However everytime I insured the parcel it reached. Is the insuring permissible in this case.

Funeral cover

Q: I would like to know if it is permissible to have a type of funeral cover, in the area I live there is a type of funeral cover that you can join at the Mosque near to you. E.g. You pay an amount of R20.00 every month so in the case you pass away then your hole at the graveyard will be paid for & any other like transporting you to graveyard, etc. But what if you pass away after 6 months & the amount you paid them is not even half the costs of your burial, etc. & if you were paying for long time already now & you are still alive then you would have paid much more then what it would actually cost to do your janaazah. Please give a detail explanation if it is permissible in Islam to have something like this & why?

Shariah compliant banks

Q: There are many muslims turning to shariah compliant banks.

  1. What is your view on using these kind of banks for buying or building a house? Would I be allowed to buy a house for my family using this service?
  2. I have some money that I would like to invest in using their investment fund. Will this be permissible? They call the percentage they put in profit not interest. I want to make sure.
