A permissible medical aid model

Q: If a medical aid model is proposed where one deals directly with the hospital and there is no middle man in between e.g. one pays a monthly fee and the hospital will now treat one whenever he gets sick, then will this be permissible? Can this be likened to an armed response alarm company where one pays a monthly fee to the security company to come out when there is an emergency?

Working for a chemical engineering company and not keeping a beard

Q: I work for an engineering company that sometimes asks us to visit chemical plants. On some of the plants, it is a requirement for the workers to have no facial hair so that one can use a gas mask in case of a gas release. What should we do in this situation? You should keep in mind that there are many Muslims who work in these types of environments and could not find an alternate job because of the profession they have chosen. Some of the companies include Aramco, Qatar Petroleum, Ras Gas, etc. that are owned by Muslims countries.

A certain company promising to help the wife of their deceased employee

Q: A woman's husband passed away whilst at work for a company due to an accident within the company. The company promised help to the woman for next two years plus they paid her a lump sum. After she completed her iddat, the company refused to help her. She went to the labour department to report it. The department wishes to know how much was spent in burying her husband. Is it correct for her to show them how much was spent in the burial of he husband if someone else in the family paid for it? If the department do give her any reimbursement, is she allowed to accept it?

Credit Cards

Q: I want to make current account in kabul bank kabul and also want to use ATM cards and master card. So is it permissible in Islam to use such cards?

Returning items not purchased to the seller

Q: Two people are partners in a grocery shop. One is Deeni conscious and the other is not. Hence, it leads to many disputes. One particular dispute is that sometimes, there is an extra product delivered to the shop. One partner wishes to return it and the other wishes to keep it. The Deeni conscious brother keeps quiet in order to maintain the peace. Is this (keeping silent) correct? If not, what should he do for the future? This has happened in the past also where the product was not returned. What should he do to make amends for that?

Developing software for banks

Q: I work for a software company where we create call centre software (IVR) related products. Not all of our clients are banks, but right now, we have two clients which are banks. The call centre software is mainly used (as per my knowledge) for changing the ATM pin, complaining about lost cards, etc. The software connects the caller with the agent of the company so that the caller may explain his/her problem to the agent. Our software is not involved in the transactions of the bank in any way. Is my job permissible?
