Adding a "christmas" tag to an online product so it appears easily in searches to attracts sales
Q: I have a start up that will sell products online in the U.S. I have made small 3d printed stars for use as fridge magnets, but they also can be hanged as a decoration. It is Christmas time in the U.S. and a lot of decoration sales are made during this time.
I have not made a product specifically for Christmas, but my product may be used as a decoration on x-mass trees. I can make a product listing on my online store and add "tags" that help customers find my product. Is it okay for me to add a "christmas" tag to my product, so that it appears easily in searches and attracts sales?
Options to sell an item that one does not have stock of
Q: I am selling physical products on an online website. I had one product in stock, but got two orders for that product. Now, I have two options:
1. Manufacture the extra product to fulfill both my customers orders.
2. Buy the extra product from elsewhere and then get it shipped to my customer.
Are these options halaal? I know that dropshipping is not allowed Islamically as the seller does not own the product at the time of the sale, that is why I want clarification.
Purchasing from companies that sometimes do not have possession of products
Q: Many online platforms such as Takealot, Amazon, Wish, Temu, Shein, etc. sell products which are not owned by these companies or sometimes not in the ownership or possession of these companies. Will it be permissible to purchase from these sites?
Selling a vehicle or property if one does not have the logbook or title deeds in one's possession
Q:
1. A dealer purchases cars from auctions. Payment is made for these vehicles and the dealer has possession of the vehicle. However, the auctioneers generally delay paperwork and release the logbook, etc. months later. Can the dealer sell the cars before receiving paperwork?
2. A person purchases a property but does not have the title deed as yet. It is still being processed with the master's office. Is he considered as the owner? Can he sell the property? Can he rent out the property and receive rentals?
Being the owner of a vehicle when purchasing it on HP
Q: A vehicle was purchased on HP (hire to purchase). The bank still holds the log book. Is the purchaser considered to be the owner? Can he sell the vehicle?
Forging a document to earn a job
Q: To qualify for CA (Chartered Accountant) in Bangladesh, one has to pass 17 papers and also complete 2 or 3 or 4 years of article ship (practical training). Now my friend has passed the CA exam by passing all the 17 papers by giving the exam in the most ethical manner as possible but he did a dummy article ship (forged article ship documents).
Now he got a halal job because he is a qualified CA. Without doing the article ship, one cannot give the last level of CA exam (last three exams). Is his income halal as he forged the article ship document?
Giving an extra amount when paying back a loan
Q: Will it be permissible to take a loan from a person and in return, instead of giving them a profit share, could you give them an item of the stock that you will be purchasing with that same loan amount?
Example, you loan R100 000 from a person to buy clothing stock. You agree to pay him on a certain date and then you give him a few items of that clothing.
Renewing a lease contract for a gambling outlet
Q: If I'm in charge of property and among about 50 shops I have to do renewal of leases. One shop is a gambling shop. Is it permissible for me to sign up or redraft a renewal lease?
Accepting a settlement discount from the bank to clear a credit card account
Q: We have a credit card account with FNB which hasn't been paid for about 1 and a half years. Over the period that the account was not paid, interest was levied to the account. I'm not to sure of the exact amount of interest which was levied on the account, but I have requested the amount. I'm awaiting their response.
The account is currently handled by the banks attorneys and they have recently emailed us stating that the bank is willing to give us a settlement discount of 40% if the account is paid by the 29th of this month (November).
Will it be fine for us to accept the settlement discount and settle this account as we don't have the money to pay the entire balance on the account and ان شاء الله a few friends will be willing to help us pay the account if we can settle with the settlement discount amount.
